Our SS02 and SD01 are single pole switches. SS01 could be used as a single pole switch or 3-way switch,. this article will illustrate how to use SS01, SS02 and SD01 as a single pole switch.
There have four lines for connection: live line, load line, neutral line, and ground line. There are 3 lines must be connected: one Live line, one load line and one neutral line.
Here is a simple diagram of how our switch is connected with your home electrical system:
Live/Load line: There will generate voltage (100 ~ 240V) between A/B/C line and N line, we call A, B and C line live/load line.
Neutral line: Due to the three-phase equilibrium (A, B and C line are connected together at N line), there is no current flows through N line, we call it neutral line.
Ground line: Because the earth is a good conductor, we use a line to connect the shell of device/electrical appliance and the earth to avoid electrical shock hazards, we call the line ground line.
Our switch's work principle is to control the load line, which intends to control the appliances that connect to our SS02 and SD01. But when you replace our switches with your old switch, there is a great probability to find that your powerline socket only contains 3 lines (or less), the reason is some old switches don’t need Neutral Line to make it work.
The main reason is, not only our switch is a switch, but also it is a powerline appliance. So If a Neutral wire is not present on the line side, the our switches cannot be working properly. (click here to check your neutral wire) If you could't find the neutral line by yourself, please contact a professional electrician. Except from the need wires
Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing our switch:
1. shut off power at the circuit breaker. Use a non contact voltage tester to ensure power is off.
2. Make sure the existing switch box has a neutral wire. Remove existing wall plate.
3. Turn on the power at the circuit breaker and use a non contact voltage tester to check load and line. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker and label the wires. Remove old switches.
4. Follow the following diagram to connect the wires in the wall box to the switch.

5. Use screws to secure switch into your wall. Then Snape on included faceplate. If your original faceplate accommodates multiple switches, you may opt to use it instead.
6.Restore power by turning on the breaker. Once the power is connected, you will see the LED indicator blinking blue, indicating it is ready to connect to Wi-Fi.
Please Note*
1: If you are not familiar with basic electrical work, please don't install switch by yourself, call a professional electrician to help you.
2: Please don’t twine two Live Lines (Live Line and Load Line), and connect them to your socket powerline.
3: If you really can’t find out a Neutral Line in your Powerline socket, please contact professional electrician to reform your socket powerline, or you can’t install our SS01 or SD01.
